This book is a biography of
Benjamin Franklin written by Peter and Connie Roop. Peter and Connie wrote this
book under Ben’s autobiography. They took from his letters, phamlets, almanacs,
autobiography, scientific papers, and essays which is written by Benjamin
Franklin.
Benjamin Franklin was the youngest
son. He was born in Boston, New England. His father’s name is Josiah Franklin.
Josiah Franklin was a candle-maker and soap-maker. Josiah had been born in
England 1657. Ben’s mother was the second wife. She is Abiah Folger.
Ben (how they called Benjamin
Franklin) was the fifteenth of the seventeen Franklin children. There were
seven Franklin daughters and ten Franklin sons. How a big family he was!
Josiah wanted Ben to be a minister
when he grew up, but Ben didn’t want to be. Then Ben work as printer in his
brother shop. Ben also wrote the poem there.
One day Ben runaway from his house
in Milk Street. He went to Philadelphia. Over there he met Deborah Red in
market Street. Deborah was the person who will be Ben’s wife.
In Philadelphia Ben worked in
printing shop. The owner was Sir William Keith. Ben worked very well there, so
William suggested Ben to establish his own printing business. He told Ben to
sail to London to buy press and type.
Benjamin Franklin worked very hard
in London. He quickly became popular with his fellow printers. He has a great
skill in writing and printing. Then Ben began a paper called “The Pennsylvania
Gazette.” He also nicknamed his character “Poor Richard.” From Poor Richard’s
pen, Ben also wrote and published “Poor Richard’s Almanacs.”
